dainty feet tickle flowers....
I remember reading "Illusions" by Richard Bach so many years ago...one of the passages he wrote went something like this:
"The mark of your ignorance is the depth of your belief in injustice and tragedy. What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls the butterfly."
I also recall the Gary Larson cartoon of 2 caterpillars inching along on the ground. They happened to look up and saw butterflies flitting about. One of the caterpillars looked at the other and said, "You'll never catch ME up in one of those things."
Well, change greets all of us, whether we are prepared for it or not....
Me? I feel as if I'm in my chrysalis, about ready to break through and pump my newly formed wings. An interesting place to be at this age....
It's Haiku my Heart Friday. Won't you participate? To see more offerings, head on over to Rebecca's place. You won't be disappointed.
Beautiful photograph and beautiful Haiku. The last lines of your story made me think of my own life. I like to believe I'm always breaking through. In fact, I just only now, at this moment, thought of NOT living this way. Then said, "No way!"
Very good stuff.
I think being in a chrysalis is a lovely place to be- Rebirth can be a painful process, but thus far- I have always loved the end results.
Beautiful haiku, enjoyed the caterpillar's dream...
What it will become
only the creator knows—
O holy, holy!
Haiku My Heart … with Tales
love the haiku, and the photo of the caterpillar is fantastic..reminds me of the little fella from alice in wonderland..which in turn reminds me again of this quote..
'Ever drifting down the stream ~ Lingering in the golden gleam ~ Life, what is it but a dream?'
~ Lewis Carroll
'caterpillar dreams...' beautiful :)
is that fennel he's on?
~dainty feet tickle flowers~ I love it!! and what a beautiful photo! FLY STRONG AND FREE....you will be fine!
Did you take this photo? Because, I just took 4 or 5 photos of the same thing (not 10 minutes ago), a caterpiller on my dill plant. I've even done the research as to what it will be here:
This is amazing. We must have been sisters in a different life.
oh, renewal, rebirth - lovely and beautiful -
wonderful! bursting with the possiblities!
Oh, my. Your haiku, your commentary. You made me laugh, you made me think.
I love the Richard Bach quote."What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls the butterfly."
May we rest in the hands of the Master as we move forward into new and uncharted life territory.
Beautiful as always... thanks for visiting... I have no clue what Mercury or retrograde is, but they had better get it fixed... It's fine everywhere else, just not in that freakin post box... argh.
Having read "Illusions" as well, I can so appreciate where this comes from. So lovely. Transformation is difficult, exhilarating, exhausting, invigorating... and necessary to life.
In your chrysalis. . . intriguing. I wonder when you'll emerge, reborn? Does the caterpillar remember caterpillar-ness after the transition?
Yes. Such in interesting place to be. And our feet tickle the flowers as we wait for our wings to dry.
and to embrace the change...this can be the challenge.
I love the idea of being a chrysalis and emerging new and fresh
Very cool photo and lovely haiku... Great though provoking post...
I love the photo, and I love your point about the mark of ignorance being the depth of one's belief in injustice and tragedy. My goodness, I was so moved by that statement. What follows is interesting as well. In my graduate school, our totem was the butterfly. I loved that because I chose to go back to school again late in life and found my wings after a long hard time on the ground. I wish you a great flight my dear! I am certain that your wings are glorious!
my dear close to emerging friend,
i watch in wonder as you reinvent yourself.
lovely haiku....beautiful photograph,
perfect welcoming home.
Wonderful shot! But my favorite thing about this post is the phrase "caterpillar dreams."
What a beautiful, relaxing and inspirational haiku. Makes me want to dream with the caterpillars and dance with the butterflies...and embrace chanage!
Have a beautiful week, my new friend! :)
ah.. those catterpillars have dreams alright :) lovely photo and haiku..!
