A Healing and Rejuvenating Yoga Pose

The Care2 folks had this article up and I'm going to do it for the month of April - no fooling!  Click on the link to view the article in a better way than it transfers on Blogger.


I have done Yoga in the past, but the only thing I really loved was the Sun Salute.  When I discovered Tai Chi, it had the "this is what you are looking for and need" feeling about it.  I want to get back to that practice and still search for classes that don't entail going into NYC...

This is such a wonderful pose and doing it daily has so many healthful benefits. Kudos to you for taking care of yourself! I've been off the mat for tooooooooo long and you may have just inspired me to get my big ass back on it!

Thanks, Inanna - whenever I get back into doing a physical exercise that I like, I always wonder "Why did I stop doing this???" Those damned distractions need to know their place - at the end of the line!

This pose feels wonderful! It's so great for taking pressure off your hips and legs. Rejuvenating!!

Thank you, awitchtrying - I'm going to do this for 40 days and will report back on what I feel. I actually love inversion poses, although I never could master the head stand!

Hmmmm ... before the picture loaded, I thought, "Oh, I'll do it too! Perfect timing!" Then I saw the picture and thought, "Oh." That's right, just "Oh." :)

I am going to read about it and possibly give it a shot; I loved doing yoga as well, many years ago!

inspiring post,thankyou.. gonna give this a go too.. will add it to the end of my daily routine throughout april. i've only just recently got back into yoga after a few month without, and my first thoughts were axactly the same.. 'why did i stop doing this??' it's great feeling those beginning benefits again though :)

Oh, Shelly - the boring yoga postures. Like housework, right?! :-) Well, I always liked the inversion poses, but never could do the head stand. My fantasy was to get one of those inversion devices, hang upside down in the window wrapped in a black cloak....you know, give the neighbors something to talk about! :-)

GreenWhisper - let me know how you do with the asana. I'm looking forward to it!

Delphyne, This sounds and looks challenging! Good for you for being motivated. I love exercise, once I get into it! About a year ago, I discovered NIA, and love it. It is one form of exercise that I have been able to be consistent with, in my advanced age. If you have not heard of NIA, take a look at the website, nianow.com. Their motto is, "Through Movement, We Find Health".

I'm going to try this pose too - I'll add it to my daily yoga/chi kung/ trance dance, or whatever it is! Love the idea of an inner seven year old witch too!

Oh, Kathy, it wasn't the thought that it was BORING at all! It was the thought, "How will I get my bum to touch the wall and get my legs up there???"

However ... I did give it a try yesterday and I like it. My bum did NOT touch the wall and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to scoot it up closer. :) I will keep trying and I have to say that holding it for a minute was NOTHING! It was very relaxing and I felt like I could have just dozed off with my legs up in the air. Hahahahaha!

You so would have freaked me out if I saw you hanging upside down in a black cloak, unless it was Hallowe'en!

Ha, Shelly - of course my bum is a tad larger than yours, so touching the wall wasn't too difficult for me! Lean on one your hips first as close to the wall as possible and then raise your legs up. I had to try it twice before I figured it out.

It was so relaxing I laid there for 3 songs on the radio and felt terrific once my feet hit the floor again. I can see doing this a couple of times a day!!
