Mabon gift from a 10 year old

My neighbor, Temperance - also known as the Squirrel Mom - has 2 children. Her daughter, Dawn Dazzle Drop, is 10 and yesterday, she gifted me with this beautiful handmade necklace for Mabon. I was so touched! My picture doesn't do it justice - sometimes the macro mode works really well and other times, well, I have no idea!

Dawn Dazzle Drop designed the piece, wove the necklace, wired the pendant herself, forming the spirals herself and attached the crystals. And then came over to present it to me as I was unloading groceries from the car. A very sweet moment for me.

Temperance doesn't want her childrens' pictures on the web - can't say that I blame her. When I look Dawn Dazzle Drop, I see this:

I actually gave her a jigsaw puzzle of this picture for her birthday last year. Hmmm - I wonder if they've finished it??

This is beautiful! Such talent. I also love the picture you posted of your friend's "daughter". :)

I have a question: I understand that the equinox falls "around" the 22nd of September; do you know if it ever falls on the 21st? I did some brief research but couldn't find an answer quickly and don't have the time right now for an in-depth search. Don't go to any trouble finding an answer, just tell me if you know it off the top of your head. Thanks!

Hi, Shelly,

Yes, the little Oak Fairy is quite talented and has very good finger dexterity.

I actually don't know if the Autumnal equinox ever falls on the 21st - I don't think so, but it's a good question and I'll check it out. Now I'm curious!

Well, here's something that shook up the gray matter in my little head! I still think the answer is no to the Autumnal Equinox falling on the 21st.

AND STILL ANOTHER FOLLOW-UP:
Yes, it looks like, judging by the graphs at the top of that last
website I gave you, due to the precession of the Equinoxes, that
June 22 date in 1975 is the LAST time it will ever happen on that
date for a long, long time. Notice as the centuries go by, the dates for the various events get earlier and earlier. By the time we go half-way thru one precession event (the total taking 25,800 years) and halfway is 12,900 years from now, DEC and January will be our 'summer months' in the N. Hemisphere, and June/July will be our winter months, and the north star will be Vega instead of Polaris, as our axis makes that slow circular precession around the pole. You can google "Precession of Earth's Axis" if you're not sure what I am
talking about. So it looks like your June 22 UT date will not occur
again...not for 400 years, but not for nearly 26000 years from now,
because it will get earlier and earlier as the centuries go by.
Hope this helps,
Clear skies,
Tom

She really is! Her fine motor skills are amazing for her age - she's a slip of an elfin thing. She told me her craft name yesterday - Dawn Dazzle Drop. Isn't that fabulous?? I had to change the post to include it!

And she really does look like the Oak Faery!

Kathy, thanks for the info about the equinox ... it was a question born from the need to remember Raya's birthdate, which we don't know for sure since she was born in the wild. My brother-in-law thought it was the 22nd, but I ignorantly said I was going to make it the 21st so I could remember it better, thinking that was the equinox. I just found her vet file, though, and it has the 22nd on it, so maybe I need to do some mental adjusting. :)
