The Horse Boy
Mrs. B posted this on Face Book. I had not heard about the book or the documentary, but after reading the synopsis of the story and watching the trailer of the movie, it's on my list. I cannot even imagine what it would be like to have a normal child who then develops autism. I'm in that camp that thinks that vaccines play a role in autism. I'm also in that camp that believes that animals and all of Nature have the ability to heal humans, if we just let them.
Shamanism is something I am very interested in - not your "I did a weekend in Shamanic training and now I'm a Shaman" Shamanism, but the real stuff - the stuff we as humans used to know and practice before entering these forgetful times. Being so removed from Nature and her creations is a sickness from which we need healing. I think Shamans hold one of the keys to our healing as a species.

I've heard about this. I couldn't watch the Utube clip as my computer won't allow it.
My best friend (we are fairy godmothers to each others children)she helped make a documentary on shamanism. Travelled Europe meeting Shamans at conventions. Even took part in an Ayawoska ceremony.
Its an interest. But like Reiki, I think it takes more than a weekend workshop...
Wow, Jasmine - that is so interesting about your documentary and experience with shamans. Have you posted about it? If you have, will you point me in the direction of the post? I'll bet it's beautifully written...
Yes, indeed, it takes a real calling for that and, like Reiki, it is more than a weekend seminar that makes a shaman or Reiki master.
It was my friend that helped either the documentary and all of this was around 10 years ago. I might interview her about her experiences and post it. She just had a baby though so I'm not sure how much time she'll have on her hands.
